Biography Photography has been a passion of mine since my early 20's when I bought my first camera, a Nikkormatt with a 28mm lens, totally manual. I took pictures of everything and read multitudes of books, trying to teach myself about how to take good pictures. I took a class in black and white back then and mostly shot pictures of the city, landscapes, the children I worked with, friends, and family. Over the years, my greatest inspiration has come from the natural environment, which I fear is slowly slipping away from us. My hope as a photographer is to somehow capture something special about a particular scene or object and be able to share that interpretation with others. This is a time of incredible change in the field of photography with the coming of age of the digital process. As digital photography becomes the standard, traditional processes are becoming more of an art form. I still love shooting with film but embrace the new technology to aide me in creating the final image. I continue to print my black and white images in a traditional wet darkroom. There is still something magical to me about watching an image appear in the developer and I never tire of the craft involved in creating a fine art gelatin silver print. I am excited about the possibilities that the future may bring as I continue to explore the new tools available to me. Jeanne Hauser |
